Paton Price, acting coach, dies at 65
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Paton Price, who coached such actors as Kirk Douglas and Jason Robards Jr. and who was jailed as a conscientious objector during World War II, has died of cancer at the age of 65. Mr. Price, who also was an actor and director, died Wednesday at Cedars Sinai Mecical Center in Los Angeles. Born in Evant, Texas, in 1916, Mr. Price graduated from Texas Technological University in Lubock, moved to New York in 1936 and attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where he later taught. Mr. Price, who remained a pacifist and anti-death-penalty activist all his life, was sentenced to four years in Lewisburg Penitentiary in Pennsylvania as a conscientious objector during World War II. After his release from prison, Mr. Price resumed teaching at the American Academy. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette 01.05.1982 |
