Der französischen Vorlage des Liedes ging eine unveröffentlichte englische Fassung voraus, die der Franzose (!) Claude François 1966 aus Liebeskummer textete und komponierte. Das Stück wollte niemand haben. François überarbeitete mit Jacques Revaux ein Jahr später die Musik, zu der Gilles Thibaut dann das bekannte "Comme d'habitude" textete.

Paul Anka schrieb für Frank Sinatra einen englischen Text auf die französische Vorlage.
