Dean Reed ya no nos recuerda

En entrevista publicada en Buenos Aires, le atribuye todo su éxito al público argentino. ¿Se olvidó de Chile?

He aquí el texto de la entrevista:

Este "cowboy" acriollado que es Dean Reed, parece que no nos abandonará en mucho tiempo. El cantante yanqui fue conquistado por nuestra tierra al poco de conocernos y lo que en un comienzo se presentó como un rápido viaje con retorno inminente, se transformó en duradera estancia. La Argentina conquistó a Dean Reed pero, no hay duda que él también nos conquistó a nosotros, por el don de su simpatía y de su gracia, amén de sus condiciones vocales, Dean Reed ya es uno de los nuestros, vinculado a nuestras actividades artísticas de todo género y figura consagrada en nuestro medio, donde es reclamado como uno de los preferidos.

Nuestro público no es muy fácil de conquistar, pero, una vez seducido, se entrega íntegramente. Esto es lo acontecido con el simpático Dean que, para decirlo en términos muy vulgares pero gráficos: "se ha metido a nuestro público en el bolsillo".

Muchos intérpretes que han desfilado por nuestra TV, o el cine, nos han asegurado que amaban a la Argentina pero, eso eran en ocasiones sólo palabras de obligado cumplimiento. Dean Reed no sólo lo ha dicho, sino que lo ha probado. ¿Y cómo? Sencillamente, afincándose en nuestro país, alejándose de los hoteles siempre transitorios, para residir en Martínez, con su esposa, cerca del centro de sus actividades y vecino al campo, que es una de sus debilidades.

Y ésto no es todo. La ambición declarada, sin ambajes, por Dean, es la de tener un descendiente criollo, un "gauchito" como él le dice al niño que está por nacer y cuyo advenimiento se calcula que puede ocurrir en los primeros dias del año entrante.

Un extranjero habría proyectado un viaje a su país de origen en la fecha calculada para que su descendiente fuera de su misma nacionalidad, pero Dean Reed quiere que sea "gauchito" y por lo tanto, y para que esté junto a su esposa en el trance del alumbramiento, ha mandado venir desde Estados Unidos a su señora madre, para que sea la abuela la que presida el feliz acontecimiento.

Nota: Fácil es apreciar que el cantante que fuera favorito de la juventud chilena, que le llevó verdaderamente al éxito, cuando era un desconocido, prácticamente, no sólo en su país, sino en todo el mundo, ya no recuerda esa etapa. Ojalá todo lo escrito, sólo sea parte de un truco publicitario para sacar partido, porque de atribuir su éxito al público bonaerense solamente, tendría que padecer de amnesia.

DEAN REED DOESN'T REMEMBER US ANYMORE

In an interview published in Buenos Aires, he is claiming his success to the Argentinians. Did he forget about Chile?

Here is the text of the interview:

Dean Reed, the cowboy who has adopted local ways, seems that will be with us for a long time. The North American singer was conquered by our country in a short period of time. At the beginning was a quick trip, with an imminent return to his country, but that changed to a long stay. Dean Reed was captivated by Argentina, but there is not doubt that he also captivated us, by his friendliness, his special talent, without even mention his pleasant voice. Dean Reed is one of us, linked to every single artistic activities. Recognized celebrity in our country is proclaimed as one of the favourites.

Our public is difficult to conquer, but once it's seduced it's totally devoted. This is what happened with the friendly Dean, who "got the public in his pocket" as we say here.

We have had too many TV or movie stars saying that they loved Argentina, but it was only for courtesy. Dean Reed not only has said it, but he has prove it. How? Settling down in our country, going away from the hotels, to live in Martinez street, with his wife, next to the activities center, and the country that is one of his weakness

But this is not all. His dream is to have an Argentinian child, a "gauchito" how he calls the baby to be born soon, at the beginning of next year.

Any foreign living in another country will try to go back to his country for the birth, so his descendant would have the same citizenship, but Dean Reed wants a "gauchito". For the delivery he has sent for his mother to United States, to have her here for the happy event.

Note: It's sad to see that the singer who was the favourite of the tennagers, making him successfull not only in his country but all over the world, doesn't remember it. I hope this article was only a trick to get something good out of it; because if he is saying that he got his success from the Argentinians, he would suffer of amnesia.

Dean Reed denkt nicht mehr an uns

In einem Interview, das in Buenos Aires veröffentlicht wurde, sagt er, dass er seinen ganzen Erfolg dem argentinischen Publikum verdankt. Hat er Chile vergessen?

Wie es scheint, wird dieser gut angepasste "Cowboy" Dean Reed uns vorerst nicht wieder verlassen. Der US-amerikanische Sänger hat sich schon kurz, nachdem er uns kennengelernt hat, in unser Land verliebt. Und was zunächst wie eine kurze Reise mit einer schnellen Rückkehr aussah, wurde zu einem längeren Aufenthalt. Argentinien hat Dean Reed erobert, aber zweifellos hat auch er uns erobert. Durch seine sympathische Art und seine begnadete Stimme ist Dean Reed einer von uns geworden. Er beteiligt sich an künstlerischen Aktivitäten der verschiedensten Art und ist sehr beliebt.

Unser Publikum ist nicht leicht zu erobern, aber wenn ein Künstler das geschafft hat, liebt das Publikum ihn voller Hingabe. So ging es dem sympathischen Dean, der nun unser Publikum um den Finger wickeln kann.

Viele Interpreten, die bei uns im Fernsehen auftraten oder im Kino zu sehen waren, haben uns versichert, dass sie Argentinien lieben, aber das waren oft nur Höflichkeitsfloskeln. Dean Reed hat das nicht nur gesagt, sondern er beweist es uns auch. Und wie? Ganz einfach: Er lässt sich bei uns nieder. Er wohnt nicht mehr in Hotels, sondern zusammen mit seiner Frau in Martínez in der Nähe seiner bevorzugten Freizeitaktivitäten auf dem Land.

Und das ist noch nicht alles. Erklärtes Ziel von Dean ist, dass sein Kind Argentinier wird. Die Geburt des Kindes, das er schon jetzt einen "kleinen Gaucho" nennt, ist für Anfang des kommenden Jahres geplant.

Andere Ausländer planen für den Geburtstermin eine Reise in ihr Heimatland, damit ihr Kind die gleiche Nationalität bekommt wie sie selbst. Aber Dean Reed möchte, dass sein Kind ein "kleiner Gaucho" wird. Deshalb hat er seine Mutter aus den USA eingeladen, damit sie seiner Frau bei der Geburt beisteht und als Oma dem freudigen Ereignis beiwohnt.

Anmerkung: Es ist kaum zu glauben, dass der Sänger, der der Liebling der chilenischen Jugend war, sich nicht mehr an diese Etappe seines Lebens erinnert. Denn das chilenische Publikum hat ihn wirklich zum Erfolg geführt, als er praktisch noch unbekannt war, und zwar nicht nur in seinem eigenen Land, sondern überall auf der Welt. Hoffentlich ist alles, was geschrieben wurde, nur ein billiger Werbegag. Denn wenn er glaubt, dass er seinen Erfolg nur dem Publikum in Buenos Aires zu verdanken hat, leidet er offenbar unter Gedächtnisschwund.
